Project Overview

The client got in touch with us over social media after recently moving into the property, as they wanted to turn this gorgeous farm house into a fully fledged smart home.

We started by visiting the client at the property to discuss exactly what they required. This included going through all of the services they were after, and showing them an extensive range of devices they could choose from. We also talked through a variety of automations to match their lifestyle.

Lighting was an important part of this project, as it is with most projects, because it allows us to really accentuate the property both indoors and outdoors. The indoor lighting gave us a minor challenge, as 12V halogen bulbs were in every room meaning we had to remove over 120 transformers and replace them with GU10 lamp holders. The outdoor lighting posed less of a challenge, however two of the driveway lights had to be replaced due to damage around the seal which had allowed water to enter into the electrics, this was spotted by one of our team and was immediately replaced.

Security was already installed in the property before we arrived, making use of a Texecom Premiere Elite alarm system and multiple Hikvision CCTV cameras dotted around the exterior. To give the client more control over both of these system we integrated them into a single mobile application so they can view the status of their alarm and monitor all of their cameras from one place no matter where they are in the world. Using a 4 channel ZigBee relay we modified the existing driveway gate allowing the client to control the gate from their mobile and check whether it is open or closed. The gate was then built into an automation that opens it when the client arrives at the property, but only if it is the clients vehicle.
