Project Overview
The client got in contact with us via our website, as they were desperate to replace the 20 year old smart lighting system that was previously installed, due to it never functioning correctly.
After arranging a visit to the clients home to take a look at the old lighting system, and discuss all available options for upgrading it, the client started to realise the possibilities of a smart home, and very quickly wanted some additional services carrying out.
The main priority was to replace their 20 year old Siemens lighting controller that was no longer functioning properly. To achieve this we started by removing the old Siemens controller, then did some quick troubleshooting and labelling to identify what the 24 circuits controlled. Once we knew which rooms the circuits controlled we began to install a mixture of smart relays and MCBs. The smart relays were primarily used to control the bathrooms and outdoor lighting, as these were simply on and off, no dimming or colour control necessary. The rest of the rooms had Philips Hue bulbs installed, allowing the client to not only dim each room independently, but also adjust the colour temperature. In the initial discussion, the client told us how important it was for them to have control over colour temperature, so they were very excited when we showed them this.
Philips Hue switches were then installed in every room, replacing the outdated smart switches. As these are wireless, we were able to install some additional switches around the property without making a mess. To give them the perfect finish, we applied a small amount of silicone around the mounting bracket of every switch. Not only do these switches look the part, but we can programme them to control almost any smart device that is connected to your central home hub. When the client enters their living room they can hit the bottom button on the living switch, which will turn on the TV, turn on the amplifier, select the TV output on the amplifier, and turn on the Sky box. This is something the client has used almost everyday since we programmed it, and absolutely loves it, as they don't need three separate remotes anymore.
Hive multizone heating was installed along with 20 smart radiator valves, giving the client total control over their homes heating. We helped improve their outdoor WiFi connection by installing an additional outdoor access point, meaning they can now watch Netflix at the bottom of their garden. They already had multiple HikVision cameras around the property, but we upgraded their regular doorbell to a smart doorbell, and as this doorbell was also HikVision it integrated seamlessly into their existing security setup.
It wouldn't be a Luxeia home without the central home control app, which we installed onto all of the clients devices, allowing them to monitor and control their home from anywhere in the world. Now that's the ultimate peace of mind!
